Reckitt Benckiser

Reckitt Benckiser
“Hull was chosen for investment due to a well established R&D facility already in place, with highly skilled individuals and space for further expansion.”
Julia Loudon, R&D Global Category Group Director, Health & Personal Care R&D, Reckitt Benckiser
Reckitt Benckiser, the world’s number 1 in household cleaning, has made Hull the home for its largest R&D facility, including the company’s global R&D centre of excellence for Health and Personal Care, which brings together leading edge innovation on Nurofen, Strepsils, Clearasil, Gaviscon, Veet, Bonjela and Lemsip.

The company has invested heavily in recent years to expand its facilities in Hull following the acquisition of Nottingham-based Boots Healthcare International and USA-based Adams Respiratory. It has recruited over 100 graduate and doctorate level scientists from outside the Hull area, in many cases from outside the UK, to develop its capabilities here in Hull.

In addition, the site in Hull is one of the company’s main Healthcare product manufacturing operations, exporting to many countries around the world and is also home to its ‘blue sky’ New Technology group who are committed to researching and developing longer term new products that maintain the company’s market leadership.

As one of Hull’s largest employers, Reckitt Benckiser employs approximately 1000 people in Hull. The company’s dedication to the city is further strengthened by its continued investment in both infrastructure and its employees, thanks to a focus on talented people and exciting personal development opportunities.
