Students bid to be crowned Stylist of the Year!

St Stephen's Shopping Centre looks to cement its position as the region's leading fashion authority as it teams up with Hull School of Art and Design in an innovative new collaboration.

The month-long contest sees 50 students on Hull College's Fashion Design and Interpretation course work alongside retailers within St Stephen's to style models in a series of three heats, culminating in three finalists taking part in a spectacular spring/summer 2010 catwalk show on Thursday, 29th April.

Taking place on consecutive Saturdays - 10th, 17th and 24th April, the heats will give each student taking part the opportunity to style a model using clothes from within St Stephen's, whilst following a pre-determined brief set by Programme Leader, Lynn Benson, which could be anything from 'A Day at the Races' to 'Prom Queen'.

At 12pm, 2pm and 4pm on each Saturday, students will have the chance to show Hull their creative side as they present their models on podiums and try to win the votes of shoppers within the centre. The public will also be able to vote online via the St Stephen's website, where images will be held for just one week.

The three students with the most votes will then go head to head in front of a panel of industry experts as their outfit appears as part of a fabulous spring summer fashion show within St Stephens on 29th April - no mean feat when the catwalk is as long as that of London Fashion Week!
The pressure is on, and the eyes of Hull will be upon them, as the event kicks off a festival of fashion within the city, incorporating shopping centres, major retailers and independent boutiques.
