01/06/2010
Half Past The Weekend Put summer Wednesdays in your diary as from the 2nd June, Wednesday is officially Half Past the Weekend! This summer Hull city centre will be offering free live music by the waterfront every Wednesday evening supported by a range of exclusive online vouchers for bars, cafes and restaurants from a brand new website www.eatdrinkenjoy.co.uk. The Half Past the Weekend campaign launches this bank holiday weekend 29 - 31 May when visitors will get a taste of the music to come with artists playing from 11am - 2pm Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The launch is set to be a fantastic start to a summer long campaign of live music, entertainment and events right across the city centre and has been developed by city partners Hull Forward, Hull City Council and Hull BID as they work with local food and drink operators to attract more people into the city centre. Local Marketing company Fred has been commissioned to deliver the campaign.

John Holmes from Hull Forward explains, 'We're very excited about the campaign as the evening economy is really important to the city and hope that people embrace this opportunity to enjoy great food, drink and entertainment in a fantastic waterside location. We wanted to work with local bars, restaurants and cafes to encourage more people to stay in the city centre after 5pm and if the campaign proves a real success this summer we can then expand it to other areas of the city centre later in the year.'

During the bank holiday weekend, promotional teams will be on hand to provide information about the campaign, hand out branded balloons and stickers to children and will be accompanied by fabulous musicians to animate the city streets.

Half Past the Weekend Wednesdays will then be happening on Princes Dock Street, alongside Princes Quay, every Wednesday evening, following the bank holiday launch weekend, between 4.30 - 7.30pm starting Wednesday 2 June.

Kathryn Shillito from Hull BID said: 'The launch weekend will be a fantastic start to the campaign with lots happening and a chance for people to enjoy the food, drink and music that Hull has to offer. We are looking forward to the positive impact Half Past the Weekend will have on restaurants, bars and cafes within the BID area.'

In support of the campaign, the website www.eatdrinkenjoy.co.uk| is also set to launch this weekend on Saturday 29th May. This will include listings of all city centre food and entertainment operators and also give exclusive discount vouchers as well as information on upcoming city centre events and what's on where.
