Shortlist announced for Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards

18/02/2011
After a record number of entries and hours of painstaking deliberation for the shortlisting, Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY) are excited to announce the shortlist for the second annual Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTAs).

The hotly anticipated list features some of Hull and East Yorkshire's finest cafés, restaurants, accommodation providers, attractions and experiences. The winners will be announced in a glamorous awards ceremony at The Spa Bridlington on the 24th March 2011.

The winners of the Remarkable Pub and Remarkable Experience awards will be decided by public vote from the readership of the Hull Daily Mail and the East Riding Mail. The shortlist for these awards is extremely competitive with a selection of events and attractions that welcomed many thousands of visitors in the past year as well as some of this region's most popular pubs!

Readers will be able to vote online at www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk, by emailing the name of their favourite to reyta@vhey.co.uk or by completing the coupon available in the paper and sending it to REYTA, Mail News and Media, Blundell's Corner, Beverley Road, Hull, HU3 1XS.

The REYTAs honour the brightest and best in this region's tourism industry and celebrate the enormous achievements of businesses across Hull and East Yorkshire. Tourism is a vital part of this area's economy, contributing over £615million annually. The REYTAs help to support the industry by raising awareness of the superb quality we have to offer visitors.

Janet Reuben, Chief Executive of VHEY, said: 'The response to the REYTAs has been excellent across the whole region. The quality and variety of the businesses that have been shortlisted for the awards represents the strength of the tourism industry in Hull and East Yorkshire and the fierce competition in every category shows the demand for winning a REYTA!

'Congratulations and good luck to everyone who has made the shortlist. This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone involved in Hull and East Yorkshire's tourism industry to join us at The Spa Bridlington on the 24th March 2011 to celebrate the fabulous offering in this region.'

The REYTAs have been generously supported by some of Hull and East Yorkshire's leading organisations who have committed to be major sponsors of the awards including: The Deep; P&O Ferries; First Hull Trains Business Travel; deliciouslyorkshire; The Moffat Centre for Travel and Tourism Business Development at Glasgow Caledonian University; Mail News & Media; Princes Quay; St Stephen's Shopping Centre and Strawberry.

Tickets for the gala presentation evening are available now. Please contact Sophie Johnson on Sophie.johnson@vhey.co.uk or phone 01482 486601 to reserve your place.
