Seminar advised healthcare companies how to secure funding

08/12/2009
The Access to Finance for Healthcare Technologies programme hosted an introductory seminar on Tuesday 24 November at the World Trade Centre Hull and Humber.

The seminar was aimed at companies in the healthcare sector which are looking for ways to rapidly grow their company through equity funding and funding opportunities, whether it is a start- up healthcare business or an established company.

Paolo Fazzi and Lisa Ward from Grant Thornton which manages the programme,
Richard Cummings from Quotec and Kevin Downes from Bitecic collaborated to discuss investment opportunities for healthcare companies in the region.

The seminar advised healthcare companies on how their business can become investor ready and to help them understand their business from an investor's perspective. It also discussed case studies of healthcare companies that have already successfully secured funding through the Access to Finance programme and how it has helped them develop their businesses.

Companies that successfully secure a place on the programme will have the opportunity to participate in workshops that are specific to financial and healthcare issues. They will also receive mentoring and support from the team, who will arrange access to investors through face-to-face meetings and sessions where they will pitch their ideas to potential investors.

Lisa Ward at Grant Thornton said: 'The introductory seminar is a fantastic opportunity for healthcare companies, whether they are a new or established business to discover how the programme can help them secure funding, so that we can work together to help businesses grow and develop within Hull and the surrounding region.'
