Humber Quays Phase Two

Humber Quays phase 2
Outline planning consent has been agreed for the second phase of development at Humber Quays as part of the delivery of the City Centre Masterplan and pioneering UK developer Nikal has been selected as its preferred partner for the next major project of Phase Two.

The first phase has seen the completion of the first two office buildings served by a decked car park, as well as the creation of a stunning public plaza and new viewing areas. Construction is also now complete and residents have moved in to the striking apartment complex, Freedom Quay.

It is proposed that phase two of Humber Quays will include:-
  • a range of major office buildings providing up to 20,650sqm commercial office space
  • a stunning high class waterfront restaurant
  • a 200 bed, 4-star, international brand Hotel
  • approximately 32 further residential apartments
  • a second multi-storey car park to serve the development
  • high quality landscaping and extension to the riverside promenade
  • extension of the flood defence wall to the estuary frontage.
Aside from the proposed commercial developments, the Masterplan for phase two of Humber Quays includes a riverside promenade with raised timber deck viewing areas, a new pedestrian street through the site to connect into the plaza and the retention of the existing landscape to Wellington Street West. All buildings and landscaped areas will achieve the highest standards of design and construction as evidenced by the quality of the first phase. Phase Two of Humber Quays will be served by a multi-storey car park at the western end of the site.

The provision of better transport access to Humber Quays and the waterfront area is an integral part of the proposals.

To achieve this, Hull Forward has agreed to support the Highways Agency who will undertake a major scheme of improvements to the A63 Mytongate roundabout to create the necessary capacity not only for the development at Humber Quays but also for the proposed Quay West development and for the redevelopment of the historic Fruit Market area.

The Highways Agency are working up the detailed design of the improvements, which will involve the widening of the carriageways to improve traffic flow.

Hull Forward has pledged that during the construction phase that they will work to minimise the impact on local residents and businesses, with access to the site and hours of work strictly controlled, together with procedures to minimise dust and/or vibration. The use of Wellington Street West by construction vehicles will be kept to an absolute minimum.
