Healthcare Technologies

Hull is creating new growth and innovation in healthcare technologies. We are looking for new businesses and people to help us make it happen.

A proud home where multi-national healthcare giants Reckitt Benckiser, Smith & Nephew and Seven Seas and SMEs thrive, alongside world leading clinical research at the University of Hull and Hull & East Yorkshire Hospitals Trust.

The opportunties

Functional Food|
Hull's functional food research centre is carrying out clinical trials on behalf of companies including Nestl, Alpro, the Food Standards Agency and the European Food Safety Authority to provide data to support health benefit claims of functional foods - a dynamic and growing segment of the food industry. The centre offers a significant opportunity to create synergies with the UK's largest concentration of food companies based here in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Telehealth|
Hull has one of the largest heart failure telemonitoring services in Europe and the UK's first telehealth service being delivered via Internet Protocol TV. The opportunity is to build on these innovations, learning and expertise to become a worldwide centre of excellence in telehealth.

Advanced Wound Care|
Harnessing expertise from Smith & Nephew's worldwide centre of excellence for advanced wound care and the Institute of Wound Care, both based in the city, we are well placed to capitalise on the global growth in this market. The Institute of Wound Care offers an ideal test bed for wound care businesses and has existing contracts with a number of leading firms who are benefiting from rapid access to results from clinical trials.

We are now developing Centres of Excellence to further enhance the expertise and business opportunities in these areas.
