Humber businesses get in first on India’s fastest emerging market | A delegation of Humber business will depart for Chennai on 14th March, as part of a scheme to engage with India’s largest untapped market. Led by UK Trade and Investment, the delegation will assess the opportunities offered by the eastern seaboard ports of India, where there is an immediate market for ports investment and management, international planning & design, logistics and specialist services such as port security and training.
Taking part in the market visit is Rob Penrose, Managing Partner of legal firm Andrew Jackson which has the largest Shipping & Transport department outside London and already has significant clients in many international markets. Commenting on the visit Rob said: “Chennai boasts the highest level of enterprises in India and there are plans to grow the capacity of the ports. We see the market visit as an opportunity to get in first to develop work and a client base in one of the world’s fastest growing markets. There are many synergies between this part of India and the Humber region, particularly in ports, logistics, and food. There are opportunities for UK companies looking to do business in that region, and also for Indian business to invest in this region of the UK.”
The delegation will go on to visit Hyderabad to allow companies to meet potential partners from the North Eastern ports. Click here for further information on the market visit and opportunities in the ports sector on India’s East Coast. | |
